Who are we?
Dronícola is a startup project where we create digital twins or replicas of real life objects and environments through photogrammetry. We first 3D scan the assets taking sequences of photographs from various distances and angles. We then digitally reconstruct the assets with software that makes measurements from that image data.

Our 3D scanning integrates aerial and terrestrial photogrammetry employing drones and high resolution ground cameras. Our 3D reconstruction utilizes the most powerful photogrammetry software in the market. This process allows us to digitize a wide range of assets with great realism and competitive costs, from insects to statues, buildings and geological formations.

What we do with photogrammetry

Our digital twins can be used in the production of 3D animations, video games and other immersive experiences, including virtual film making, visual effects, and virtual, augmented and mixed reality (VR, AR, MR). Our current products include digital twins and 3D animations generated from these 3D models. We will soon offer reconstructions and virtual environments, and other digital assets.

Below are a couple of samples of our work from two castles we digitized in the province of Guadalajara, Spain. The first one is a 3D animation generated from our digital replica of the Castle of La Torresaviñan and its surrounding physical environment. The second one is an animation film where we used our digital twin or replica of the Castle of Pioz.

We currently serve the cultural heritage and entertainment sectors. We digitally promote, protect, and preserve historic buildings, monuments, and other cultural heritage elements. We also create 3D models and animations used in 3D art and entertainment productions. Our growing product portfolio includes applications for archeology, paleontology, cultural heritage, tourism, marketing, art, and entertainment.

Photogrammetry is a key technology in the increasing virtualization or digitization of the physical reality around us, from an insect to a planet. This technology combined with 3D modeling, animation, 360 video and extended reality (XR) will play an important role in the creation of the Metaverse, which is destined to transform most products, services and society.
